Negative Space Ferns

Hey everyone! If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen that I was in Ibiza a couple of weeks ago. I went for a long weekend with my boyfriend and another couple, and of course I had to do some nails to mark the occasion. I had a flick through Pinterest the night before I went (leaving it to the last minute as always) and I came across these nails and knew instantly they'd be perfect for Ibiza. I decided to recreate them with a light pink background, and a simpler version of the ferns because I was a bit pushed for time!

More details on how I created these below, and tomorrow I'll be doing a post about my 'nails on tour', if you haven't seen these posts before you can catch up here

I started with a base of Orly - Pamper Me* as my base colour, then I used acetone and a flat brush to cut out the triangle and I touched up the corners with a thinner brush. The leaves were done using a Winstonia Striping Brush, plus Essie - Off Tropic* for the stalks. Then I used Essie - Exposed* and OPI - I'm Sooo Swamped for the inside of the leaves. I then added a coat of Seche Vite.

Normally I'd leave it there but I remembered I had a bottle of Leighton Denny - Top That Gel System in my cupboard from a couple of years ago, so I decided to give it a go as it's supposed to turn any polish to gel and I knew I'd be in the pool and I didn't want them to come off prematurely. I'm so glad I decided to add Top That, I also added it to my toes and they're still going strong 4 weeks later, and my nails lasted throughout the whole holiday (albeit only a 5 day holiday).

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!
