Gelish - Thrill Of The Chill Review + Swatches

I can't believe it's the end of the weekend already, every week it just flies by. It's not that I don't like my job, it's more that I diet in the week and eat loads of chocolate at the weekends and I really miss eating chocolate as soon as it turns to Monday... first world problems! Anyway, I've got a review of the new Gelish - Thrill Of The Chill Collection* for you. As always it's a gorgeous collection from them, and I think I have a couple of new favourite Gelish shades too.

Gelish Chilly Christmas Trees

I'm trying to be strict with myself on Christmas this year, especially in terms of food. I've lost weight recently and I don't to gain it back by pigging out on mince pies, but they're so delicious I'm struggling to resist. However, I decided that I didn't need to resist doing Christmas nails, what's the harm right? And apparently Twitter agreed, as I did a poll earlier and these were the popular choice!

These aren't the first Christmas nails I've done this year I have to admit, I've been playing around with nail wheels to decide on some designs and these are a by-product of that.  As I was swatching the Gelish - Thrill Of The Chill Collection* (review coming soon), I couldn't help feeling Christmassy and I wanted to do some quick Christmas nails to show off the gorgeous shades of the collection, and to play around with one of the designs from my nail wheel.

OPI Iceland Abstract Splodges

Can you tell by the title that I had absolutely no idea what to call these nails? I'm sure there is a name for this style but for the life of me I can't think what it is. That's what happens when you leave blog post writing until after a full day of work, and having your brain fried by Peaky Blinders. Whatever they are called, these are loosely inspired by Nina Nailed It. I've seen this type of design floating round Instagram for a while now, but I know that she originated this kind of look and I always love her designs but I wont pretend that mine will ever look as good as hers!

I wanted to have another play around with the OPI Iceland Collection*, it's such a gorgeous muted collection but there are so many options for nail art I just couldn't resist. Considering it's an autumn collection I feel like I managed to create quite a bright mani out of the shades, but I'm sure there will be more moody colours that will show their face on the blog soon. Considering my last mani with the collection wasn't very moody either.

Marc Jacobs Geometry

Hey everyone! I'm so pleased to show you these nails as I was looking enough to have had a chance to try out the new Marc Jacobs* nail polishes. I've never used the brand before so I was really excited to see what they were like, and I must say I am soooo impressed. I often wonder whether brands with big price tags are so expensive just because of the name of the brand, but it turns out they really do have the quality to reflect the price. I was sent two shades to try from the latest Fashion collection: Trax* (Burgundy) and Ladies Night* (Beige). Both polishes glide on to the nail so well, and they're super shiny. Call me a price tag convert!

Barry M - Black Cats

Happy Halloween! Whilst I said yesterday it felt like Halloween was over, I got back into the spirit today. We bought soooo many sweets for trick or treaters because we live right near a school, and we didn't get a single one! I'm guessing the creepy ghouls we've got stuck to our windows were too much, who knows? Anyway, my final Halloween design is hopefully a bit less spooky, but still on theme: black cats!

To the horror of my boyfriend (he definitely prefers dogs), cats are my favourite animal and would be my pet of choice, so it seemed fitting to paint them on my nails this halloween. This isn't the first time I've done black cat nails (see here), but it is the first time I've done them this way, and I love the combination of pastel and black. This was my last design in collaboration with Barry M, I hope you've enjoyed them!

I used Barry M - Rose Hip* as my base, and then I used Barry M - Black Forest* and Barry M - Cotton*, finished with Barry M - Matte Topcoat*.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Barry M - Moon Phases

After my Halloween party this weekend it kind of feels like Halloween is done and dusted, but it's good job it isn't because I've still got two designs to show you! The first of the two is these moon phases nails. I've seen this design done a few times so I'm not sure who originated them, let me know if you do! They're such a cool idea, I couldn't resist trying them myself. They took a lot of perfecting to make sure they were right, I must have sponged that gradient on at least 10 times per nail, but I was so pleased with the final result. These nails were created as a collaboration with Boots and Barry M, so keep an eye on Boots social media to see how to create these!

Barry M - Pastel Halloween Bats

It's almost the weekend, and that means one thing... halloween party! I'm so excited. This is the first proper party we've hosted in the new house so I'm really looking forward to it, and I can't wait to put halloween decorations up tomorrow. As I mentioned in my last post, I've got quite a few halloween designs to post, so here's the second one I created for Barry M: pastel bats.

These were a combination of different ideas I'd seen on Pinterest. I loved the idea of an ombre effect on the nails, and I'd seen a few mini bat designs, so I combined the two, and I really love how these turned out.
