Nailvengers Assemble: Mardi Gras Madness

Hey everyone! It's the last day of the month and that means a new Nailvengers theme! If you're not sure about what Nailvengers is, read last month's post here. I was so happy to see some of you participating in last month's theme, and I hope to see you all doing the same this month. Don't forget you can like our Facebook page for updates, and to see all our designs, and you can post your Nailvengers there too. This month's theme is Mardi Gras, and I struggles to come up with an idea until the other day when I stumbled across this design and decided to recreate it. This is the first time I've painted a face on my nails, and I was quite unsure about how it would turn out. It doesn't look brilliant, and it looks more like a member of Kiss than a Mardi Gras face, but for a first attempt I don't think it's too bad.

For the base I used China Glaze - All Wrapped Up, from the Holiglaze collection, then I used Deborah Lippmann - Walking on Sunshine, Barry M - Gold Foil and an unnamed green, the details on the face are all using acrylic paint and I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite

Kitty Kats

Hey everyone! I’m away in Brighton at the moment and I’m writing this from my hotel room, but apparently I only have half an hour worth of internet so I best be quick. Today’s post is some cute little cats very loosely based on this design by At Your Fingertips. I did intend to copy it directly, but as always happens with me, I overcomplicated it a bit, although I’m glad I did because I really like how they turned out!

The base for these nails was Deborah Lippmann – On The Beach*, which I’ll be doing a review for along with a few other polishes later in the week, and then I used acrylic paint for the details, topped off with a coat of Seche Vite

University of Sheffield Nail Art Society

Hey everyone! So, I'm not sure if I mentioned it on my blog, although I've certainly mentioned it on Instagram, but me and my flatmate have started a nail art society at our university, and I'm so excited about it! I wanted to just show you a few quick photos from our first session, and the nails I taught everyone how to do. We were very lucky to have been sponsored by Barry M, and we all had a brilliant time using their polishes and nail art pens for the tutorial, as you will see in the photos below! If you attend Sheffield Uni (or if you're just interested) you can join our Facebook page here for more updates. More pictures and information after the jump!

Nails Inc. Collaboration with Teatum Jones - Swatches and Nail Art

Hey everyone! Today's post is an exciting new release from Nails Inc, who have released 3 new colours in collaboration with emerging design talent for London Fashion Week. The three colours are Sloane Street, which is the hot pink you'll see below, in collaboration with Teatum Jones. Colville Mews, which is a gorgeous nude, in collaboration with Emma Shipley. And finally Hallam Street, which is a lovely dusky purple, in collaboration with David Longshaw. These polishes will be available for 6 weeks only, or whilst stocks last, so grab them while you can! I received the amazing Sloane Street to show you all, I know you're probably all sick of plain reviews after last week's review week, so I decided to combine today's post with a bit of simple nail art just to tide you over! I'll post the full review after the jump

Tutorial Tuesday: Black Floral Glitter for Divine Caroline

Hey everyone! It's been a couple of weeks since the last tutorial tuesday, and you've been missing it a tonne, I'm sure. This week's tutorial is another one where you'll have to head over to Divine Caroline to see the steps for this glitter floral design. If you would prefer to stick to the original colours of the dress in the article then go ahead, you definitely dont have to follow the same colour scheme I did.

Dont forget to check out the steps here, and if you do decide to recreate it, you can tweet me @onenailtorule, post on my Facebook page, or tag me on Instagram (@onenailtorulethemall)

Review Week, Day Seven: Mavala 'London', 'Montevideo' and 'Sapporo' swatches

Hey everyone! We made it, it's the last day of review week, if you'd like to see all the posts from this week you can see them here. I think this is the first time in ages, if ever, that I've posted 7 days in a row without fail. I almost had a breakdown mid-week after editing, whilst drunk, until 5am, and I definitely wanted to quit the week, if not blogging altogether, but I did it! Have you enjoyed this week? Or would you rather I just stuck to nail art? I'd love to know your thoughts!

For the last day I have these cute polishes from Mavala. These are actually my first Mavala polishes and I'm definitely impressed by the formula and the brushes as you'll see below, despite their tiny bottles.

Review Week, Day Five: Nicole by OPI Gumdrops Collection Swatches

Hey everyone! It's been a day full of swatching and editing for me, just so I could have the reviews done for this weekend before I came home, although with the weather I didn't really want to leave to come home in the first place, so it may have taken longer than usual as I delayed and delayed and delayed, and I didn't end up getting home until late. Anyway, for the fifth day of review week I have the gorgeous Nicole by OPI Gumdrops collection. I know for those of you outside the UK this is a relatively old collection, but in the UK these were only released in Superdrug in November and I was lucky enough to be sent them to review, and I thought this week would be the perfect chance to showcase them. These retail for £8 each and I'd definitely recommend picking some up! I've shown a couple with topcoat for you to see how they're transformed, I intended to show all with topcoat but I just couldn't get my camera to focus properly for most of the day and I gave up in the end, but hopefully you still enjoy!

Review Week, Day Four: Deborah Lippmann Polishes

Hey everyone! I'm so excited for today's post, because this is the first time you've seen Deborah Lippmann polishes on my blog, and these are gorgeous polishes to start off with. I have two polishes from the Spring 2014 collection to show you and a couple of polishes from upcoming collections!

Review Week, Day Three: Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish Swatches

Hey everyone! For day 3 of review week I have a few more of the amazing Nails Inc. Gel Effect polishes. I first showed you St James here, and I'm really glad to have received some more of the collection because I think they're really great, and as you'll see in a minute, I've found my new favourite polish! Full review will be after the jump

Review Week, Day Two: Barry M Silk Collection Swatches and Review

Hey everyone! So for day 2 of review week I have the amazing new Barry M silk collection. I'm so excited to be able to review this because it's such a unique collection. When I saw images of the bottles I assumed it was just another shimmer collection, but these polishes dry matte, and that truly makes them unique.

Review Week, Day One: Models Own Hypergel Swatches

Hey everyone! I have a lot of exciting reviews for you, and I didn't want to wait to post them over a few weeks, so I've decided to do an entire week of reviews. I know a lot of you are here for the nail art, but don't worry, I'll try and incorporate some where I can! First up in the reviews is the amazing new Hypergel collection from Models Own. I'm sure you've all heard about them, and a few of you may have even got some of the collection in their recent sale, but my lack of a lightbox meant I've only just been able to review these.

Clothes Show Live 2013

Hey everyone! Way back in December I went to Clothes Show Live at the NEC in Birmingham, and whilst you may have seen a few mentions on my blog and a couple of the video tutorial I did, (the daisy tutorial of course you've already seen here) this post is so late in coming, I'm sorry. Nevertheless, I still wanted to do a post, even if it just highlights how awful I have been at getting around to writing it. I was honoured to have been invited to Clothes Show Live, and having never been I was also incredibly excited. I filmed a total of five tutorials for them, all of which can be seen on their youtube channel. I'll post a couple at the bottom of this post for easy access, but you should definitely go check them out on their channel!

Tutorial Thursday: Negative Space Nails

Hey everyone! As promised, here's this week's tutorial. I have to be up in 7 hours as I was called in to work last minute so I need to make this quick. After posting my negative space nails I had a number of requests for a tutorial, and I decided to combine that with some more valentines nails, as the day is fast approaching.  I also really wanted to try out these Swarovski studs I got from Stephen Arnold, so I decided to combine the two. Full post with tutorial steps will be after the jump

Nude Checkers Stripes

Hey everyone! I'm afraid I dont have a tutorial ready for you today, I've only been around my lightbox for a couple of hours in the past week and I just havent had the time. I'm working on one whilst I type this (well, I've taken a break to write this but you know what I mean) so I will have one up thursday instead, but for now I thought I'd do a post based on my checkers stripe tutorial from a couple of weeks ago, which you can see here. I'm not sure whether I prefer the pink or the nude, or which works better, but I know that I definitely love this in matte!

The base for these was Barry M - Lychee, then I used MASH - White, and black acrylic paint, topped off with a coat of Butter LONDON Matte Topcoat
