Models Own - Polish For Tans Gradient

Hey everyone! I have an announcement, of sorts. Tomorrow I will be starting another 'review week' as once again I have tonnes of reviews to post, and posting every other day with nail art interspersed just means that they get delayed even longer, so I will be posting every day next week with reviews. I'll try and throw a bit of nail art your way too because I know that's the main reason you're here, but I'm sure you'll love the awesome stuff I have coming your way!

The first review will be Models Own - Polish For Tans*, and to start you off I have some nail art using Beach Bag. I wore these nails for almost a week (and I did both hands!) and I was quite sad to take them off. They're simple but they were so bright and summery I just couldn't stop staring at them. Of course, because they're neon my camera didn't really show how awesome they are, it just looks like a bright peachy colour, but I promise you these are AMAZING in person.

The base for these was 2 coats of Models Own - Beach Bag*, and then I used Graffiti Nails - Ice White and a sponge to create a gradient, topped off with a coat of Seche Vite

What do you think? Let me know in the comments

  3. Ooh I cannot wait to see the other swatches you have for review week! This gradient is so pretty, I love the contrast between Ice White and Beach Bag! :)

  4. Very pretty gradient...I would only have thought to use white as undies for a gradient, not as being part of the gradient itself. Silly me. In addition to the compliment, I also wanted to ask about what sponge you used. I was delighted to see someone else had already asked you and I followed your link. Unfortunately, there were 13 different sponges shown on the page you linked to. They varied in size but, more importantly, in density and texture. Could you be more specific about which makeup sponge you used? This is a question I'm trying hard to get a proper answer to as I have a laughable amount of different makeup sponges which give widely varying results. Considering I'm such a novice at gradients, I'd like to figure out to which type of sponge I should be devoting practice time to achieve better results (versus wasting my time with a sponge type that will never give be the results I see in manis such as yours in this post). To make it easier for you to say which sponge you use, I copied the names of the sponges from your link above. They are in the order listed on the page. Would you reply with the name of the sponge you use? Many thanks from a wannabe gradient nail artist!

    1. Hi Delphi, I'm confused as I did not link to any website? I just said I got it from poundland. It really doesnt matter what type of sponge you use, although if you go back to this post: http://onenailtorulethemall.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/tutorial-red-gradient-palm-trees.html you can see a picture of the type of sponge I use. It's triangular, but honestly you can use any sponge, I've even done gradients with a sponge you use for washing up. Hope that helps!

    2. Hi there! I don't know where you live but I just buy my sponges from Walmart (in the US). They are just the triangle makeup sponges and they work perfectly! The pack that I buy are like 20 for $2. You just want to make sure the sponge you use doesn't have a lot of holes in it if you want the 'perfect gradient'. Hope this helps!
